History is not a straight river flowing forward. It is more like a piece of parchment that has been repeatedly folded, with each fold concealing a lost dynasty, a forgotten migration, and a silent promise. On this intricate map, Central and Eastern Europe is undoubtedly the region with the deepest wrinkles and the densest textures. This land is the stage for the rise and fall of empires and the crossroads where civilizations collide. The eagle flag of Rome, the crescent of the Ottoman Empire, the double-headed eagle of the Habsburgs and the red star of the Soviet Union all left their deep marks here. These marks do not simply cover each other, but rather squeeze, permeate and entwine with one another, forming layer upon layer of time wrinkles. The past has never truly vanished; it has been folded into the present, settling into the undercurrent of collective memory and the genes of individual identity.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u672c\u6b21\u5c55\u89c8\u300a\u591a\u7459\u6cb3\u4e4b\u4e1c\uff1a\u4e00\u4e2a\u5e73\u884c\u7684\u4e1c\u65b9\u300b\uff0c\u662f\u4e00\u6b21\u9080\u8bf7\u2014\u2014\u9080\u8bf7\u60a8\u4e0e\u6211\u4eec\u4e00\u540c\uff0c\u5c0f\u5fc3\u7ffc\u7ffc\u5730\uff0c\u5c55\u5f00\u8fd9\u4e9b\u65f6\u95f4\u7684\u8936\u76b1\uff0c\u4e00\u4e2a\u88ab\u4f20\u7edf\u4e1c\u897f\u65b9\u4e8c\u5143\u5bf9\u7acb\u53d9\u4e8b\u6240\u906e\u853d\u7684\u4e16\u754c\uff0c\u4fbf\u663e\u73b0\u51fa\u5176\u72ec\u7279\u7684\u5750\u6807\u3002\u6211\u4eec\u79f0\u4e4b\u4e3a\u201c\u5e73\u884c\u7684\u4e1c\u65b9\u201d\u3002<\/p>\n

This exhibition, “East of the Danube: A Parallel East”, is an invitation – inviting you to join us in carefully unfolding the folds of time. A world obscured by the traditional narrative of binary opposition between the East and the West thus reveals its unique coordinates. We call it “Parallel East”.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The exhibition will invite over 30 artists from many Central and Eastern European countries, such as Hungary, Albania, Romania, Latvia and Bulgaria, etc. More than 70 artworks, including prints, fabrics and ceramics.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Fiber Media Lab (FML) is an art studio dedicated to in-depth research and cross-disciplinary practice in fiber art and public space art. Through international exhibitions and academic initiatives, we foster platforms for dialogue, striving to translate cultural heritage through the language of fiber. We explore integrated creative approaches that merge public art, fiber art, and transmedia art, conveying our artistic philosophy of “weaving spatial aesthetics with fiber.”<\/p>\n

In 2023, FML launched the “FML Young Artists Program”, designed to provide emerging creators with a dual-support platform for professional development and commercial transformation. This initiative: integrates resources from top art institutions, mentors, and the FML professional network to offer creative guidance, exhibition opportunities, and international exchange; while simultaneously precisely connecting with corporate needs to provide pathways for commercial empowerment and value realization, thereby promoting “collaborative co-creation between art and commerce.” FML is committed to building a dynamic ecosystem that interconnects art, academia, and industry, driving continuous innovation in fiber art and the realization of its multidimensional value.<\/p>\n
