WHAT WE DO
Fiber Media Lab (FML) was officially established in Hangzhou in 2022. Its core team, formed by faculty and students from the China Academy of Art, brings together high-quality artistic resources from both domestic and international communities. As a resource integration platform dedicated to in-depth research and cross-disciplinary practices in fiber art and public space art, FML creates dialogue through international exhibitions and academic initiatives. Committed to translating cultural DNA via the language of fiber, the lab actively promotes public art education and cultural dissemination, embodying its artistic philosophy of "weaving spatial aesthetics through fiber."

We takes on every project with fresh eyes, analyzing the broad objectives and unique nuances in order to streamline the design and construction process. This detailed focus carries through to the planning of spaces, tailoring of materials, and an emphasis on craftsmanship. FML art studio also combines a research-based art and design practices with an interest in curating an academic exhibitions and how design, craft, technology and materials come together in ways that explore the boundaries between art, design, architecture, other disciplines, and the public.Integrating contemporary art our team has built a variety of exhibitions and public art projects both in China and abroad.

WHO WE ARE
Led by professors from the China Academy of Art, the founding team comprises interdisciplinary doctoral researchers, curators, and public art designers. All members hold master’s degrees or higher from prestigious art institutions, excelling in integrating diverse material media, cutting-edge technologies, and artistic forms to systematically implement academic research into the realization of urban landmark art installations. The team has successfully executed 32 cultural projects globally, bridging theoretical exploration with tangible urban interventions through innovative spatial narratives.
