The Pattern of Light · Fiber Art Installation Project

/

2024-12

"The Pattern of Light" is a conversation between photography and installation art. As a medium, "silk" connects industry and art, order and freedom, and also individuals and society. It is not only a material, but also an expression of emotion and human minds. Starting from different perspectives, this group of artworks integrates light and line, stillness and movement, concreteness and abstraction, and explores the deep meaning of connection in the interaction between space and vision.

The photographic series captures the dynamic rhythms of silk production through shutter speed and supplemental lighting, abstracting tangible industrial materials into symbols of rhythmic lines. Each line stretches gracefully like a verse, with alternating warm and cool tones bestowing the silk with distinctive character and emotion, bringing it to life through the lens. These images not only document the intricacies of industrial production but also unveil an industrial beauty: strength within delicacy, motion within stillness, expressing the inner rhythm and tension of industrial products. Additionally, the photographs recompose geometric elements—points, lines, and planes—through depictions of industrial architecture’s exterior and interior structures, presenting a balance of rigidity and nostalgia. This series transcends documentation, becoming a poetic visual exploration that redefines the potential of industrial aesthetics.

The photographic series captures the dynamic rhythms of silk production through shutter speed and supplemental lighting, abstracting industrial materials into rhythmic lines. Each line stretches gracefully, with alternating warm and cool tones giving the silk distinct character and emotion. These images document the intricacies of production while revealing industrial beauty: strength in delicacy, motion in stillness, and the inner rhythm of industrial forms. By reassembling geometric elements—points, lines, and planes—through industrial architecture’s shapes and structures, the photographs balance rigidity with nostalgia. This series transcends documentation, offering a poetic exploration of industrial aesthetics.

Together, the photographs and installation artwork compose a narrative of "silk," unfolding both visually and conceptually. Illuminated by light, the threads extend as flows of thought, connecting fragmented elements. As viewers engage with the spatial transformations, they are prompted to reflect: How can photography balance documentation and artistry? How can connections be reimagined in today’s context? In this artwork, time and space converge into abstract forms, inviting quiet contemplation through the interplay of light, line, and space.
